I started my blog in August 2016 to share my financial journey and also as a resource to point my friends and family to when they had questions on finances. After a couple years of blogging, the most common question that people ask is, “Where do I begin?”
Inevitably, I provide personalized feedback. However, sometimes I think my feedback is overwhelming. My 6-page email response is not usually the simple answer that people are hoping for.
A Better Solution
After more than a dozen responses, my wife turned to me and said you really need to create a simplified approach for people to understand. She didn’t blame the recipients for becoming overwhelmed and then not doing anything at all. That’s when the concept of my Reaching FIRE course began.
In the past, I was hesitant about creating a financial course because I know how much work that would take. I also thought my blog was too small and that a newly created course wouldn’t have much of an impact in the financial community. Plus, who would want to listen to what I have to say?
Here’s the crazy part though. A bunch of people have already taken the course and loved it.
Course Feedback
If you don’t believe me, here is some of the feedback that I received from teaching the course this past fall.
“My wife and I leveraged the [Reaching FIRE] methodology to pay off $1700 in credit card debt while taking the class.”
“I found the tools that were recommended [in Reaching FIRE] to be extremely beneficial. Also the general information was broad enough to bring new understanding to topics I had no insight into, yet specific enough to help me make financial decisions where needed such as the 529 plan section.”
“This course provided real life resources and tools to help you reach FIRE and assess your finances. This course also benefited from being taught by someone who has reached FIRE and was knowledgeable in all areas participants had questions in.”
“My wife and I increased [our] 401K contributions from 10% to 25% to reach FIRE. We had a minimal reserve and now we have obtain 4 months of expenses in savings. We have also paid off 3 credit cards on the [Reaching FIRE] methodology. We have also reduced our auto insurance by $100 a month with shopping for new auto insurance recommended by Rob. We have also leveraged the Zero Based Budgeting plan to identify $500 of surplus each month. These are a few key FIRE Pillars.”
“I really enjoyed the class and was able to take away things that I can apply to my life. The fact that Rob is so accessible and down to earth, and a regular person, not a celebrity, gives hope to other non-celebrities that we too can make it financially.”
Accessible to All
So with all that said, I am really excited to announce that the Reaching FIRE course is now available for anybody to take. In the course, there are six modules with 14 lessons, 13 worksheets, an extremely helpful exclusive Facebook group, and more. We take an in-depth look into personal finances including:
- A biblical perspective to your finances
- How to find your retirement number
- A step-by-step approach to creating a Spending Plan
- The two best methods for paying off debt
- Why you should save 3-6 months worth of expenses
- How to safeguard with proper insurances and estate planning
- The amount that you should invest
- The benefits of paying off your mortgage
- The steps to take to pursue your passion and enjoy the benefits of financial freedom
In my opinion, this course is much more valuable than $7, so I recommend you hop on board while the price is this low!
If you are wondering why the price is so low, it is because I was torn while deciding pricing. A great ebook by a well-known author may sell for $9.99. Meanwhile, some courses on Teachable sell for $197+. Considering both of those facts, I still wanted my course to be accessible for those that may be struggling with their financial situation.
For those not excited about reading through the Teachable modules, I will also offer Reaching FIRE webinars in small groups of 12 or less for the price of $47 and Reaching FIRE one-on-one coaching for $147. These sessions will last five weeks. Each week, the class will last 90 minutes, including one hour for lecture over the material and then 30 minutes for questions.
Not sure if this course is for you?
Reaching FIRE is for you if…
- You want to take greater control over your finances.
- You want to improve your financial acumen even further.
- You want to stop losing sleep over your finances.
- You haven’t had any luck cleaning up your finances in the past.
- You want to spend more time with your loved ones and have a better work-life balance.
- You want to be able to retire one day and follow your true passions
Whether you are new to personal finance or whether you have been handling your finances well for years, this course is helpful for anyone, no matter what your financial situation is!

Thanks Mrs. Adventure Rich!!! I am so excited it’s finally out there 🙂
Nice accomplishment Rob. I am a teacher and know how much work it takes to design a course. I hope you will update us on the live courses. With my background in teaching, personal finance and FIRE, I might considered doing something similar and would love to learn from you. Speaking of learning from you, I have referenced your Blogging 101 pages countless times as I have started and attempted to grow my blog over the past 6 months. So, a big Thank You for the generosity with your knowledge and experience. Tom

Thanks for the kind words!!! I’m so glad that Blogging 101 has been so helpful. I honestly wish I had that resource when I started 🙂
Congrats on starting this course. I’m sure you’ll have many more testimonials in the near future. And the logic for your price point makes total sense. Why offer a course for hundreds of dollars to potential people that may need help managing Personal Finances?

Thanks SMM!!! I struggled with the right price point but thought hopefully this will maximize the impact of those that can hear 🙂

Nice work creating this course; it sounds awesome!
Thanks Mrs. COD!!!
Congrats on the course launch, Rob. I’m sure that was no small undertaking. I would love to create something similar in the future.
Thanks Cody!!! It was a huge undertaking and one that hopefully helps out a lot of people 🙂
If anyone should have a course, Rob, it’s you. Since getting back into blogging, your blog is set apart as one of the better “teaching” blogs. You do a great job. Good luck with the launch. If your set up for affiliates, let me know. Either way, I’ll recommend it to my network.
By the way, love the redesign of the homepage + logo. It really looks great. What theme are you using? I just started with Thrive — became a member for a year.
Also, sorry I’ve been a little MIA. Things have been crazy. We had our second child in January and I’ve focused a lot of time on Pinterest marketing and my Forbes column. Hope to catch up soon!
God bless,
Dave
Dave we definitely need to catch up soon. Congrats on the baby and of course the Forbes column which is amazing!!!
Congrats, Rob! Wishing you much success with this course and your continued efforts of spreading the message.
Thanks Amy!!! I’m really excited about the course and it’s been great seeing all the people sign up 🙂
Congrats Rob. Your site has always had some great content and can learn something new all the time. Im sure your course will do great.
All the best
Cheers

My husband and I are already retired, have no debt except a reverse mortgage (which concerns me), and are limited on what we can do to make more money. He was on disability which morphed to retirement when he reached 66. I’m on disability. Do you have advice for growing money in retirement years or know someone who could help us? Actuarially, we should be around for at least 20 more years.
Hi Nikki!!! Shoot me an email and I can put you in touch with a trusted professional that might be able to provide some advice. I’m hesitant to provide specific investment advice since it’s required to have a licenses 🙂
