A couple of you may have wondered what happened.
I had been posting very consistently and then stopped without warning.
Honestly, I got burned out.
Between working full-time, trying to find a new home, preparing to sell our house and making time for my wife and kids, I felt like something had to give. So I stopped. I wasn’t sure how long the break was going to be, but a day became a week, a week became a month, and so on.
Will I continue writing on the blog?
Some days, I definitely want to. Other days, not so much.
So, here are my plans moving forward.
When I feel like I have something valuable or interesting to share, I will do so. Otherwise, hopefully you can search my archives for areas of interest, or you can always drop me an email.
But man oh man, a lot has changed since I last posted on here!
Here is a quick summary of all that has transpired:
- We had a third baby boy.
- We sold our townhouse with a realtor (after 2 contracts fell through).
- We bought an “as-is” home through a for-sale-by-owner transaction with an elderly couple.
- We took out a mortgage.
- We watched our net worth increase by 50% after plummeting by 30% at the beginning of the year.
Hopefully, one of those updates will wet your appetite.
I plan to write about each of the above at some point. I know I wish I had had a little bit more information prior to diving into a FSBO, but maybe I can help someone else out before they jump into that process.
I will also aim to provide monthly updates on our finances since I enjoy hearing how my friends are doing with their finances and like to celebrate their wins along the way.
heeey welcome back
It’s been a long time for sure. Sounds like life has been fun and full of upgrades. and more work lol.
We all get burnt eventually and in this current environment I find it harder to talk about finances. There is just soo much going on.
anyways welcome back
cheers!

Thanks I appreciate it. I plan to post when I have something to say or share…the previous schedule burned me out so hopefully I can provide some value along the way again 🙂
We fell off the map too. Mostly because my consulting business and kids took up all my time. But now I am back!
Sounds like life got interesting for you. Congrats on the 3rd!

That’s awesome to hear!!!
Welcome back and congratulations on the new addition to the family!
It’s always good to take a break and to prioritise the important things in life – mental health!
Thanks Rami…I appreciate the kind words 🙂
So glad to have you back! I actually sent an email out to you about 10 months ago, wondering where you were…LOL. Anyways, I’m looking forward to your posts!
Thanks for reaching out Dane…I apologize for not sending a note back…things got crazy and I pulled way back…which in hindsight was probably too far back.
Just curious. When you started this blog 4 years ago, you indicated that you wanted to retire within a couple of years. What happened to that goal? Have you revised your goal of retiring early?
You’re right I did want to retire early. With three kiddos now, priorities have changed. I think if we really tried we can retire next year but it would require some sacrifices that I’m not prepared to do at the moment (ie moving away from family to a lower cost of living area, not help fund my kiddos educational accounts, etc.). On top of that at the moment I really am enjoying what I’m doing at work and more importantly…I’m not sure what I would retire to 🙂
I thought this guy was dead. Glad he’s still around.
Still alive…craziness ensued with three boys 🙂
Indeed, it’s nice to hear again from you.
I occasionally pop up for topical posts to help build up my own knowledge. I appreciate the older archives 🙂
But, it’d be great to see some new content that you teased!
Congrats on all the successes in life it sounds like you’ve had.
